Zusammenfassung
Die peripheren Arterienerkrankungen haben ihrer Häufigkeit und ständigen Zunahme wegen wesentlich an Bedeutung gewonnen. Durch die stürmischen Fortschritte in der Gefäßchirurgie sind die Behandlungsaussichten der Verschlüsse an Aorta, Aa. iliacae und den Stammarterien der unteren Extremität entscheidend gebessert worden. Gestützt auf eine Reihe von Pionierarbeiten vornehmlich aus der Jahrhundertwende (34, 130, 150, 151, 94, 199, 88, 250, 26, 259, 264, 277, 191 u. a.) setzten erst im letzten Jahrzehnt erfolgreiche Bemühungen ein, verschlossene Arterien zu rekanalisieren oder durch ein Transplantat zu überbrücken. Grundlegend hierfür waren die Arbeiten von Dos Santos (1947) und Kunlin (1949).
