Abstract

The bradykinin-potentiating factor (BPF) is a component of Bothrops jararaca venom which potentiates in vitro as well as in vivo some pharmacological effects of bradykinin (Ferreira, 1964; 1965). This communication deals with its purification, biochemical characteristics, pharmacological actions, and some considerations of the mechanism of bradykinin potentiation by BPF.
