Summary

The metabolism of (4–14 C) oestrone was studied in the microsomal fraction of the fetal liver at different ages of gestation and in the microsomal fraction of the human liver of one adult. The rate of metabolism of (4–14 C) oestrone (formation of ether soluble, water soluble and protein bound fractions) increased with fetal age but did not reach the metabolic rate of the adult liver.
