Zusammenfassung
Für eine Aufrechterhaltung der Struktur, ebenso wie für jene der Funktion des Hypophysenvorderlappens ist dessen unmittelbarer vasculärer Kontakt mit dem tuberalen Teil des Hypothalamus unerläßlich. Ein vom Hypophysenstiel abgetrennter oder an jede beliebige Stelle des Organismus transplantierter Vorderlappen fällt einer schweren Atrophie anheim — bis zu völliger Unkenntlichkeit der morphologischen Struktur — und auch die Vorderlappenhormone werden nur in physiologisch ungenügenden Mengen abgesondert. Eine Replantation des infolge ortsfremder Transplantation atrophierten Vorderlappens in die Sella führt nach Regeneration der Gefäßverbindungen mit dem Tuber cinereum zur Wiederherstellung der Struktur und Funktion desselben (Harris-Jacobsohn 1952, Nikitovitch-Winer und Everett 1958). Das strukturelle Substrat dieser Beziehung zwischen Hypothalamus und Vordérlappen ist der Portalkreislauf an dessen capillarem Sammelgebiet in der sog. Eminentia mediana des Tuber cinereum sich Nervenendigungen befinden, die für die Erhaltung und Steuerung des Vorderlappens dienende Wirkstoffe an den Portalkreislauf abgeben.
