Zusammenfassung

Das von dem englischen Arzt Sir James Y. Simpson 1859 erstmals beschriebene Krankheitsbild tritt vorwiegend bei Frauen im mittleren Lebensalter auf. Es handelt sich um meist nachts auftretende Schmerzkrisen im Bereich des Steißbeins und terminalen Mastdarmes, die gelegentlich mit einem Zervikalund Lumbalsyndrom kombiniert sind.
