Abstract

Der Beitrag gibt einen Überblick darüber, wie sich das Leben in Partnerschaft und Familie auf die körperliche und mentale Gesundheit auswirkt. Er informiert zunächst über die seit langem bekannten Familienstandsunterschiede der Mortalität, fasst neuere Ergebnisse zum Einfluss von Partnerschaft auf die Gesundheit zusammen und stellt die diesbezüglichen Erklärungsansätze vor. Besondere Beachtung finden hierbei auch nicht-traditionale Partnerschaftsformen und insbesondere die Frage, wie sich die immer zahlreicher werdenden nicht-ehelichen Lebensgemeinschaften und Partnerschaften ohne gemeinsamen Haushalt auf das Gesundheitsverhalten und auf die körperliche und mentale Gesundheit auswirken. Die zweite Hälfte des Beitrags widmet sich dem Einfluss von Elternschaft auf die Gesundheit. Hierzu werden zunächst die diesbezüglichen empirischen Befunde und Erklärungsansätze vorgestellt, um anschließend wiederum der Frage nachzugehen, wie sich nichttraditionale Familienformen auf die Gesundheit auswirken.
