Zusammenfassung

Seit den 1990er Jahren erleben Stiftungen in Deutschland eine Renaissance: Die Anzahl der Neugründungen hat nicht nur rapide zugenommen, auch die öffentliche Wertschätzung von Stiftungen ist deutlich gestiegen. Der Wandel deutet auch auf eine längerfristige Veränderung im Verständnis und in der Aufgabenverteilung zwischen privater und öffentlicher Verantwortung, zwischen privatem Wohlstand, Einfluss und Engagement sowie dem Gemeinwohl hin.
