Zusammenfassung

Wie der notorische Moderne-Verteidiger Marshall Berman (bes. Berman, 1982), wurde auch der Geograph Edward W. Soja 1940 in der Bronx geboren. Die Vorfahren Bermans gehörten dabei zu eben den Mittelschichten, die sich hier ab dem 19. Jahrhundert niederließen und jene sozial-kulturelle Melange schufen, aus der noch der junge Soja seine ersten geographischen Anschauungen schöpfte.
