Zusammenfassung

Die Online-Enzyklopädie Wikipedia ist das maßgebliche Referenzwerk für Antworten auf Wissensfragen im Alltag vernetzter Gesellschaften. Wo früher ein umfangreiches und entsprechend schwer wiegendes Buch aus dem Schrank geholt wurde, wird heute das Smartphone aus der Hosentasche gezogen. Der Zugriff auf die Bestände der Wikipedia erfolgt zeit- und ortsunabhängig auf die je aktuellste Version eines Artikels. Die Inhalte der Online-Enzyklopädie werden dabei längst nicht mehr nur von menschlichen Autor_innen betreut. Bots verrichten einen wachsenden Anteil der anfallenden Arbeiten. Virtuelle Autorschaft zeichnet sich in der Wikipedia daher sowohl inhaltlich durch eine prinzipielle thematische Offenheit, als auch organisatorisch durch die Zusammenarbeit von menschlichen und automatisierten Benutzer_innen aus.
