Zusammenfassung

Die Beschäftigung mit dem Phänomen der kollektiven Identität reicht bis ins 18. Jahrhundert zurück und hat seither ständig an politischer Bedeutung gewonnen. In einfachster Form lässt sich kollektive Identität im soziologischen Sinne als Wir-Gefühl beziehungsweise Bewusstsein von Individuen verstehen, gemeinsam einer bestimmten kollektiven Einheit anzugehören, die durch spezifische Merkmale gekennzeichnet ist und sich dadurch von anderen Kollektiven unterscheidet.
