Abstract
From June 2013 to April 2015 we conducted a randomized controlled trial with a parallel group design. Participants were randomly assigned to either an experimental group (perturbational treadmill training = PTT) or a control group (conventional treadmill training = CTT) by using a computer-generated block-randomization, stratified by Hoehn & Yahr stage (H&Y 1-2 and H&Y 2.5-3). The random allocation sequence was generated by an independent person (SS) not involved in assessment or intervention, and group assignment was concealed during enrollment of participants at the hospital (University hospital Erlangen, Germany). The Ethics Committee of the University of Erlangen – Nuremberg (Germany) approved this research project and all participants gave written informed consent prior to intervention.
