Zusammenfassung

Bargeld kann kaum nachverfolgt werden – weshalb seine Nutzung auch für illegale Zwecke attraktiv ist: für Geschäfte in der Schattenwirtschaft, für Bestechung, internationale organisierte Kriminalität, Terrorismusfinanzierung oder zum Unterlaufen wirtschaftlicher Sanktionen. Zwei vorschnelle Schlussfolgerungen sollten jedoch vermieden werden. Zum einen ist Bargeld trotz seiner Verwendung auch für illegale Zwecke zuallererst ein häufiges und weit verbreitetes Zahlungsmittel für legale Transaktionen.
