Abstract

In 2009, the overall turnover in the German industrial sector amounted to 3,097 million euros, out of which 54.9% are cost of material (Destatis, 2012). Typically, this material has to be sourced within a supply chain. Hence, the interaction between supply chain partners such as suppliers, manufacturers, and retailers has a huge monetary impact on the overall supply chain performance.
