Potenziale und Herausforderungen der Erneuerung historischer Innenstädte in Schwellen- und Entwicklungsländern

Zusammenfassung

Der Erhalt historischer Innenstädte wird zunehmend als elementarer Bestandteil von nachhaltiger Stadtentwicklung betrachtet. Aktuelle globale Rahmenwerke wie die Neue Urbane Agenda oder die Ziele für Nachhaltige Entwicklung heben die vielfältigen Potenziale von Kulturerbe hervor und beruhen auf einem erweiterten Verständnis von Kulturerbe, als eine Verbindung materieller und immaterieller Werte, mit Wertzuschreibungen verschiedener kultureller Gruppen. Das gilt nicht nur für Europa und Nordamerika, wo Erneuerungsprojekte bereits gängige Praxis sind, sondern ebenso für Schwellen- und Entwicklungsländer, in denen Stadtwachstum, Fragmentierung und Informalität zusätzliche Herausforderungen darstellen.
