Abstract

The chapters which follow deal with nonequilibrium processes. First, in chapter 8, we treat the topic of the Langevin equations and the related Fokker-Planck equations. In the next chapter, the Boltzmann equation is discussed; it is fundamental for dealing with the dynamics of dilute gases and also for transport phenemona in condensed matter. In the final chapter, we take up general problems of irreversibility and the transition to equilibrium.
