Abstract

In this chapter we present the properties of breathers in the FK model. First, we discuss the breathers in a weakly discrete SG model where the discreteness is treated as a small perturbation. One of the most remarkable features in this case is associated with multi-soliton effects and fractal soliton scattering. Then we discuss nonlinear modes localized at impurities—nonlinear impurity modes. Last, we describe the case of very localized discrete modes — discrete breathers.
