Abstract

Since the end of the rd World War, recourse to hospital emergency services as a means of admission to the healthcare system, has become commonplace, thus generating particularly demanding constraints for hospitals and their staff. This new recourse to ‘immediacy’ is undoubtedly due to the general social, economical and technological transformations that have taken place in our industrialized society.
