Abstract
Science, engineering, industry, and business today are confronted with problems continuously growing in size and complexity. Traditional methods and instruments are becoming less and less efficient for their solution. Many of these enormous computations simply would not be worth attacking, were it not for the modern electronic computers, which have improved the situation greatly by increasing computing speed and reliability by many orders of magnitude.
