Der plötzliche Kindstod

Mögliche Ursachen und praktische Konsequenzen

  • Chapter
Monatsschrift Kinderheilkunde

Summary

A review is given on the current knowledge regarding the sudden infant death syndrome. Facts of epidemiology, morphological and physiological results recently reported are discussed for the question of SIDS-etiology, where developmental defects in cardiorespiratory control might play an important role. Practical implications are presented for future research as well as for current handling of infants at risk.
