Video Capsule Endoscopy

Abstract

A number of video capsules are now commercially available. Many of these capsules are already in the second or third generation, with ongoing development. They differ, for example, in the number of cameras, rate of imaging, methods of data storage or transmission, battery power, and intended field of use [1, 2]. The basic technical specifications of the available video capsules are compiled on Table 3.1. Figure 3.1 shows the capsules and the corresponding radiograph images, with addition of the PillCam patency test capsule (see Chap. 9). The floating properties of the different capsules in water are demonstrated in Fig. 3.2.

The work was first published in 2006 by Springer Medizin Verlag Heidelberg with the following title: Atlas of Video Capsule Endoscopy.
