Zusammenfassung

Das angloamerikanische Schrifttum benennt lebensbedrohliche Infektionen im Beckenbereich mit dem Schlagwort »Pelvic Sepsis«. Darunter sind schwere Krankheits bilder zu verstehen, die sich im gesamten Beckenbereich ausbreiten können. Lipsky hat versucht, die Gesamtgruppe der lebensbedrohlichen nekrotisierenden Infek tionen unter der Benennung »necrotizing soft tissue in fections« (NSTI) zusammenzufassen (DiNubile u. Lipsky 2004). Da bei diesen Erkrankungen mehrere Organsysteme in komplexer Form einbezogen werden, erklärt sich der ebenfalls gebräuchliche Ausdruck »Complex Wounds« oder spanisch »Feridas Complexas «, die als Synonyme verwendet werden (Ferreira et al. 2006). Die dramatischen, nekrotisierenden Infektionen sowohl des Urogenital- sowie des Anorektalbereiches (Pelvic Sepsis) können diesen Begriffen zugeordnet werden.
