Zusammenfassung
Ziel einer Thoraxdrainagebehandlung ist – nach Therapie der zugrundeliegenden Krankheit – die Wiederherstellung der physiologischen Verhältnisse im Pleuraspalt. Dieser Satz ist auf den ersten Blick vielleicht nicht sehr aussagekräftig, dennoch ist er wichtig und richtig und sollte, so allgemein wie er gehalten ist, immer als Grundlage all unserer Überlegungen und Bemühungen im Umgang mit Thoraxdrainagen dienen. Die „Wiederherstellung der physiologischen Verhältnisse im Pleuraspalt“ bedeutet eben, dass wir uns an diesen Verhältnissen orientieren, wenn wir beispielsweise an einem Drainagesystem den Unterdruck einstellen, der im Pleuraspalt generiert werden soll. Es bedeutet auch, dass wir uns darüber im Klaren sein sollten, wann die Kriterien für die Entfernung einer Thoraxdrainage gegeben sind. Insbesondere gilt dies für die pleurale Flüssigkeitsproduktion.
