Zusammenfassung
Das Poland-Syndrom ist eine seltene kongenitale Fehlbildung mit sehr unterschiedlichen klinischen Manifestations- bzw. Ausprägungsformen. Es kann von einer isolierten Hypoplasie bzw. Aplasie der Brust sowie des Mamillen-Areolen-Komplexes bis zu einer Beteiligung des M. pectoralis major und minor, mehrerer Rippenknorpeln sowie einer Brachysyndaktylie variieren. Diese Malformationen treten ausschließlich unilateral auf. Männer sind dreimal häufiger als Frauen betroffen. Die genaue Ätiologie ist unbekannt. Das Vorliegen einer Fehlbildung an der Brust sowie am M. pectoralis major sind bei einem Poland-Syndrom obligat. Bei der chirurgischen Therapie stehen grundsätzlich alloplastische sowie autologe Rekonstruktionsverfahren zur Verfügung. Die Wahl der Therapieform wird individuell und in Abhängigkeit des Geschlechtes und der Befundausprägung gestellt. Der Zeitpunkt der Rekonstruktion ist nach der Vollentwicklung der betroffenen anatomischen Strukturen, meistens nach dem 16. Lebensjahr.
