Zusammenfassung
Die Adoleszenz ist eine wichtige Periode für die Entwicklung des Selbstbilds des Körpers. Diese wird durch somatische, psychologische und soziokulturelle Faktoren geschlechtsunterschiedlich beeinflusst. Die Internalisierung eines durch Gesellschaft und Medien portierten Körperideals spielt dabei eine wichtige Rolle. Durch die Diskrepanz zwischen dem Körperideal und der natürlichen biologischen Entwicklung des Körpers sind vor allem Mädchen gefährdet, ein negatives Körperbild zu entwickeln. Ein negatives Körperbild ist mit verschiedenen Gesundheitsrisiken verbunden, insbesondere dem Risiko für die Entwicklung eines gestörten Essverhaltens. Die Prävention sollte auf der gesellschaftlichen Ebene, im Elternhaus, in der Schule und auch beim Jugendarzt/der Jugendärztin stattfinden.
