Zusammenfassung
Die epidemiologischen Daten der Keratokonjunktivitis sicca unterliegen einer breiten Streuung. Auch Symptome und Befunde der Erkrankung unterliegen hoher Variabilität. Eine systematische und einem einheitlichen Konsens unterliegende Klassifikation der Keratokonjunktivitis sicca und der Meibomdrüsendysfunktion existiert bisher nicht. Dennoch wird die übliche Klassifikationsweise dargestellt. Verschiedene Erkrankungsformen bedingen sich gegenseitig, zugrunde liegende Erkrankungen weisen verschiedene Wirkungsrichtungen auf und erzeugen diverse Mischformen der Erkrankung. Insbesondere das Symptom des paradox tränenden Auges wird näher betrachtet.
