Abstract
Cutaneous melanoma represents 5% of all malignant tumors and its incidence has increased in recent years [1]. Melanoma is aggressive due to its ability to metastasize in early stages of the disease. Early diagnosis is essential for a better prognosis. A four-stage scale (I, II, III, IV) has been proposed by the American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) [2]. PET/CT using FDG may have a role in some steps of the natural history of melanoma.
