Zusammenfassung

Das Problem der Systemintegration basiert auf der Denkfigur, dass die funktional differenzierten Teilsysteme der Gesellschaft die Neigung zu „operationaler Geschlossenheit“ haben und hierdurch notwendige Koordination erschwert wird. Dem Rationalitätsgewinn, der durch Differenzierung entsteht, steht ein Integrationsverlust gegenüber. Je nach Theorie werden unterschiedliche Lösungen für dieses Problem präsentiert, die von der „organischen Solidarität“ Durkheims bis zur „strukturellen Kopplung“ Luhmanns reichen.
