Zuverlässige Laborwerte hängen nicht nur von einer korrekten Analytik, sondern in besonderem Maße auch von der präanalytischen Phase ab. Diese umfasst die Vorbereitung des Patienten, den richtigen Zeitpunkt der Probennahme, die eindeutige Identifikation der Probe, das richtige Probengefäß und die Blutabnahme selbst. Weiters muss ein adäquater Probentransport und eine geeignete Probenlagerung bis zur möglichst raschen Analyse sichergestellt sein.
