Abstract

To determine the effect of real properties of a gas attendant to irregular reflection of waves, studies were made of the reflection of strong shock waves in CO2, air, nitrogen and argon. In CO2 excitation of molecular vibrations and dissociation are quite perceptible at sufficient low temperatures, when M0 of the incident wave do not exceed 7–8. In air and nitrogen these efeffects at the same Mach numbers are less pronounced.
