Pathophysiology

  • Chapter
The Vertebral Artery

Abstract

Surgery on the cervical V.A. may be discussed to treat different pathological states as described in the previous chapters; but there are two principal indications for this surgery:

  • to spare the V. A. in case of involvement by any lesion which must be removed

  • to restore V.A. flow which has been compromised and thereby prevent ischemic events in the vertebro-basilar territory.
