Abstract

The interest in enhancing the 3D-CFD-simulation from something for few specialists and with many limitations into a reliable and powerful tool fully integrated into the engine development process is incredibly high. Future engines, turbocharged, downsized and with innovative combustion solutions also for alternative fuels, will require a more detailed analysis of the engine processes in order to better understand the potentialities of the different configurations and then to properly design the engine towards efficiency exploitation. For this task no other simulation tool is more adequate then the 3D-CFD-simulation.
