Auszug
Markenführung bzw. Branding wird für die Steigerung der Markenbekanntheit und Wiedererkennung eingesetzt (von Matt 1988; Moutinho 1989). Dafür wird die Markierung selbst planvoll ausgearbeitet, systematisch entwickelt sowie eingehend getestet und rechtlich überprüft (Bruhn 2005). Markenführung ist ein Führungskonzept, mit dem ein Unternehmen seinen Markterfolg sowie den Unternehmenswert steigert. Es verleiht einem anonymen Produkt eine starke, markante Persönlichkeit — das Produkt entwickelt sich somit zur Marke (Herbst 2005). Grundsätzlich wird der Begriff in der Betriebswirtschaftslehre in mehreren Bedeutungsinhalten verwendet. Einerseits unterscheidet man bei der Untersuchung von Marken zwischen der Marke als einem gewerblichen Schutzrecht, der Marke als markiertem Produkt und der ‚eigentlichen’ Marke (Hätty 1989; Schröder 2002; Meffert et al. 2002). In formaler Hinsicht wird die Marke als Zeichen der äußeren Kennzeichnung von Gütern verstanden. Eine Marke kann definiert werden als Logo, Symbol, Zeichen oder Name, der in der Psyche des Verbrauchers eine Sonderstellung für einen bestimmten Bedürfnisbereich erreicht hat (Domizlaff 1939; von Matt 1988, S. 7).
