Abstract

Anger is one of the most common human emotion which is experienced by everyone. It becomes a problem when anger is felt too intensely, is felt too frequently, or is expressed inappropriately. Aggression is a broad risk factor, for psychopathology among adolescents, and it has become an important focus for intervention. Anger is one critical factor associated with aggression and violent behavior in adolescents. The adolescents need to be made aware of the emotional ups and downs in their life and how they can effectively manage their anger. Anger management training typically involves psychoeducating on the cognitive and behavioral components of anger, teaching cognitive, and behavioral techniques to manage anger and encouraging the application of newly learned skills in the real-world setting. Cognitive behavioral techniques attempt to intervene with cognitive, emotional, and physiological components of anger. Cognitive–behavioral interventions designed to address anger include the following: self-awareness training, relaxation techniques, cognitive restructuring, communication, and conflict management skill training.
