Riassunto
Il sole, in una descrizione grossolana, può essere considerato come una sfera di gas perfetto costituita prevalentemente da idrogeno ed elio ionizzati (plasma), ossia da una mescolanza di protoni, particelle α ed elettroni. Esso tende a contrarsi a causa dell’attrazione gravitazionale tra i suoi costituenti e a espandersi a causa del calore sviluppato nella regione centrale mantenendosi in condizioni di equilibrio idrostatico e termico.
