Abstract
Among the endocrine abnormalities involving thalassemic patients, the incidence of thyroid disorders shows a large variability [1–8]. We attempted to investigate the evolutive trend of thyroid function with elapsing of time and its relationship with chelation therapy. We have carried out a follow0up study of thyroid function in 45 polytransfused thalassemic patients, investigated in 1988 and again in 1992.
