Psychogenic Factors in Asthma

Abstract

Emotional factors can cause both the onset and the outburst of an asthmatic crisis. The pathogenesis of all organic or psychic diseases influenced by psychic factors takes root in an emotional conflict. The response to the emotional conflict differs from subject to subject:

  1. 1.

    The person solves the conflict.

  2. 2.

    The person reacts with anxiety, anguish, depression and even tachycardia, tachypnea and insomnia.

  3. 3.

    The person fails to solve the emotional conflict, becomes involved in a state of neurosis, and sometimes develops an out and out organic disease.
