Abstract

Serous cystic neoplasms (SCNs) are composed of non-atypical cuboidal, glycogen-rich, epithelial cells that produce a watery fluid. They are almost always benign lesions (serous cystadenomas), as only a very small number of malignant variants (serous cystoadenocarcinomas) has been described.

SCNs occur more frequently in middle-aged women. While any portion of the pancreatic gland can be affected, they are usually detected in the pancreatic head [1].
