Abstract
Motorische handicaps vinden hun oorsprong in lokale of gegeneraliseerde afwijkingen van het zenuwstelsel, in spieraandoeningen of in het ontbreken van delen van het bewegingsapparaat. In dit hoofdstuk wordt aandacht besteed aan kinderen bij wie de motorische handicap is veroorzaakt door hersenbeschadiging op jonge leeftijd. Achtereenvolgens wordt ingegaan op een aantal aspecten van het cerebraal bewegingsgestoord-zijn, het begeleiden van deze kinderen bij tandheelkundige behandeling, en op enkele aan de handicap gerelateerde tandheelkundige bijzonderheden.
