Inleiding

Je bent zaalarts op de afdeling Oncologie. Een patiënt die twee jaar geleden werd behandeld voor borstkanker wordt weer opgenomen; een recidief, metastasen. Einde verhaal. Er gaat van alles door je hoofd: ‘Waarom nou juist zij? Zou je van tevoren kunnen voorspellen wie een recidief krijgt? En kun je dat dan ook voorkómen? Dat moet iemand uitzoeken!’
