Inleiding
De vestibulaire cortex bij de premolaren en molaren van de onderkaak bemoeilijkt de diffusie van anesthesievloeistof naar de apices van deze gebitselementen, die centraal in het kaakbot zijn gelegen. Bij volwassenen is mandibulaire geleidingsanesthesie noodzakelijk voor een effectieve verdoving. In het gebied van de ondercuspidaat en incisieven is de cortex dunner en liggen de wortelpunten aan de vestibulaire zijde van de kaak. Hier is infiltratieanesthesie effectief.
