Samenvatting
Als oorzakelijke therapie niet mogelijk is of niet helpt, kan men overwegen om pijngeleidende zenuwen stil te leggen: dan is de pijn ook weg. In de loop van vele jaren zijn er talloze technieken uitgeprobeerd om met injecties of anderszins de pijn te blokkeren. Er werd niet alleen geïnjecteerd met het doel de pijn te bestrijden, maar bijvoorbeeld ook om inflammatie uit te doven of de wervelkolom te ‘verstijven’. Dit addendum maakt duidelijk welke methoden – min of meer – achterhaald zijn en welke niet.
