Abstract

This chapter discusses malaria incidence in a general background of mortality and morbidity in Bangladesh. Specifically, it aims to look into (a) the conditions associated with the resurgence of malaria and its status by the close of the twentieth century; (b) the spatial trend of malaria resurgence in the same time period, additionally suggesting the division of the country into three risk zones based on epidemiological, geo-ecological, and infrastructural criteria; and (c) the possibility of research intervention in the field of malaria geography.
