Abstract

Let be a complex separable Hilbert space, ε the collection of orthogonal projections in , and (X, Ɓ) a Borel space. A function E : Ɓε is called a spectral measure if E(X) = I and E(∪ i=1 A i ) = Σ i=1 (A i ), for any pairwise disjoint collection A1, A2, A3, …, of sets in Ɓ.
