Abstract
The following text fragment is taken from the original proposal becoming ultimately the accepted description of work that constituted the basis for the 3-year technical work that was performed. We leave it up to the reader of this book to assess whether the reviewers of the hArtes project were right in judging that we have completely achieved the stated objectives of the project. The entire consortium that has worked on this project is convinced that an important scientific and technical contribution was made resulting in more than 150 international publications as well as a spin off company, BlueBee (www.hartes.org and www.bluebee-tech.com).
