Abstract
The operational amplifier is the first active element used to design and implement inductorless filters. In this chapter ideal operation amplifiers are examined in detail from a terminal behavioral perspective as circuit elements. However, a look into their circuitry helps to understand their terminal properties but also the imperfections of the non-ideal op amps especially in their integrated form. Voltage amplifiers, inverters, adders, differentiators and other simple circuits based on operational amplifiers are also presented in this chapter and one of the most useful circuits, the integrator, is presented in a greater extend.
