The Mushroom Project Model: A Note

Abstract

The concept and scope of a project appear to be different depending upon the area of industry or commerce. The following model can be used to explain the differences of approach to project management by different groups and puts into context the key expectations of a business project. The objective is to recognise that the concept of a project varies depending upon familiarity with a particular industry sector and that all are usually correct for that environment. In this narrative several views are expressed by the author that are deliberately polarised to exaggerate differences in the view; in reality there are many shades of grey.
