Abstract

Egypt can be divided into three regions with different sheep production systems and breeds. In the Nile Delta region agriculture is intensive and 1 million sheep are raised either on small holdings or in commercial village flocks managed by specialized shepherds. Lamb production in this region could be intensified to fit the prevailing intensive conditions.
