Abstract
The iterative convolution (IC) technique is reviewed in the context of the lattice-based and renormalization group approaches. A wide variety of applications of the IC technique are presented including the geometrical properties of isolated chains, dense entanglements, solvent effects, terminally attached sequences at a boundary, the development of loops trains and tails, ring and star polymers. Wherever possible comparisons are made with Monte Carlo simulations. In all cases the emphasis is upon the incorporation of excluded volume effects within the system.
