Abstract

Tuberculosis of the skin is caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis of the human, bovine and, very rarely, the avian type1. In man, M. tuberculosis and M. bovis caused identical skin manifestations. The skin changes elicited by M. tuberculosis/bovis infection are polymorphous, depending upon the interplay of host immunity and bacterial virulence.
