Abstract

Astronomy with gamma-rays in the tens of MeV-few GeV energy region was started in the sixties, with the availability of reasonable space vehicles, in the hope of opening a new window of observational astronomy which was to shed new “light” on a variety of energetic astrophisical processes in compact objects as well as in the interstellar medium (ISM).
